Serious Rift Developing Between U.S. and Israel
The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs asserted that Israel and the
United States could face a serious crisis in their relations that would
affect their response to a nuclear Iran. In a report by former
Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, Dore Gold, the center said the
tensions between Jerusalem and Washington could lead
to a much deeper rift later in 2010 when the administration of President
Barack Obama was expected to release a Middle East peace plan.
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. Gen. 12:3
We must pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Ps. 122:6), and also pray for our leaders so that they would understand the ramifications of not blessing Israel. This was a major concern of mine in the recent presidential election, the candidate's stance on Israel. From the verse above, I am convinced that being a true ally with Israel is a vital part of our national security and should be priority in our foreign policy. I never was quite sure of President Obama's or Mrs. Clinton's stance on Israel. On the other hand, I thought that former President Bush's and Ms. Rice's stance was pro-Israel. If you remember, Rice pushed for a divided Jerusalem too, and Mr. Bush's Road Map to Peace was not well received by Israel either.
Back in 2005 as Katrina was approaching the gulf coast, The Golden Report posted a blistering report against Bush's policies in Israel and predicted that the US had brought on the judgment of God by our actions there. The report was titled, God will not be mocked and His Word will come to pass.
We are told in God’s Word that the pattern of the governments of the world in the last days will be against Israel, no matter what political party is in office. We are rapidly approaching a day when all nations will turn against Israel. Recently some popular end-time movies had portrayed the U.S. as standing with Israel in the all out war of the nations against Israel. I am not convinced that this will be the case according to the Bible.
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. Zech. 12:3 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Zech. 14:2 Both verses above indicate that all nations in that day while turn against Israel. The real question of many has been not whether we would be against Israel, but rather would we as a nation be in existence at that time? I don't know the answer to that one, but if we are still around, it is clear that we will follow the course of this world. That course sadly is not one of blessing Israel, but instead one of cursing her. The nation that chooses this path will be 'cut in pieces' when The Lord of lords comes down to earth and defends Israel during the great and terrible Day of the Lord (2 Thes. 2:8). Let us pray for the peace of Jerusalem and our leaders!
