John Lewis, the civil rights icon and truly a great American, was laid to rest today. Through many trials and hardships, he most certainly fought a good fight! Former President Clinton at his funeral commented on just how far the “boy from Troy,” son of a share cropper, had come, and how he truly was honored so in his passing. Read Fox News article
He left these fitting words of encouragement for this generation: “When historians pick up their pens to write the story of the 21st century, let them say that it was your generation who laid down the heavy burdens of hate at last and that peace finally triumphed over violence, aggression and war,” Lewis wrote. “So I say to you, walk with the wind, brothers and sisters, and let the spirit of peace and the power of everlasting love be your guide.”
He also left marching orders in his parting letter.
