The word of the Lord that came to Joel the son of Pethuel. Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers? Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation. That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten. Joel 1:1-4 KJV
China has stepped up the alert in case swarms of locusts that have laid waste to agricultural land in Pakistan, India and East Africa find their way across its borders, a government agency said on Monday.
“Although experts believe that the risk of swarms entering the country and causing disaster is relatively low, [China] will be hampered in tracking the locusts by a lack of monitoring techniques and little knowledge of migration patterns [if they do] invade,” the National Forestry and Grassland Administration said in an emergency notice on its website.
Beijing has convened a task force to watch for, control and – if possible – prevent the arrival of the voracious insects. The government also planned to hold a meeting of experts this month to discuss and coordinate nationwide swarm prevention efforts, including an emergency warning system.
While the Chinese government said the locust threat was small, alerts have been stepped up since mid-February, when the agriculture ministry decided to track the locusts’ movements and study ways of keeping them out. Read South China Morning Post article
As if China hasn’t had enough to deal with, the African swine killing of the pigs, the army worms eating up crops, not to mention the terrible devastation of the Coronavirus.
Hopefully the army of locust will not enter China’s southern border, but this locust invasion has already been massive. It started in Northern Africa and is reported here as “Pakistan’s worst locust infestation in decades.” You know if the U.N. official says that it is “a scourge of biblical proportions,” then this should make one stop and think!
I think too often we think that we fall into the trap of normalizing these events and thinking the plagues spoken of end times will be much worst. Have you noticed the list of “worst” things that have been rolling in recently? The worst fires in Australia, the worst stock market sell off since the 2008 crisis, the Coronavirus now worse than the SARS incident from a while back. When I say normalize, I think about the rise in eathquakes, especially the activity in the ring of fire area. Prophecy News Watch brought out the fact how the USGS downplayed all the activity saying that there was no more activity than in other periods over the last couple of centuries. PNW showed that even their own geological data proved otherwise.
Keep looking up, for our redemption draweth nigh!
