President Donald Trump has confirmed that he sent his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani to Ukraine to find dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, contradicting his earlier statements.
During an interview on Geraldo Rivera’s “Roadkill With Geraldo” podcast released Thursday, Trump was asked, “Was it strange to send Rudy Giuliani to Ukraine, your personal lawyer? Are you sorry you did that?”
Trump responded: “Not at all. Rudy was a great crime fighter, you know that, maybe better than anybody. And Rudy is totally on his game.”
Trump added that he “used” Giuliani instead of the FBI because “they spied on my campaign” in 2016.
“So when you tell me, why did I use Rudy — and one of the things about Rudy — number one, he was one of the very best prosecutors, and the best mayor,” Trump said. “But also, other presidents had them … they all had lawyers … and they do things for them. It’s really circumventing — but very legally — and maybe getting things done faster.” Read NewsMax article
Although everyone knew it already, at least now President Trump admits that he sent Giuliani to dig up dirt on the Biden’s. I also think it was clear that something smelt fishy about the July called to the Ukrainian president. That is not to say that the Biden’s dealings in Ukraine shouldn’t be investigated; I think that definitely is long overdue. It is just when you mention military aide and needing the president receiving the aide to do him a favor in the same sentence, that the water gets really murky! The real question for the whole impeachment trail was not whether the aide and the favor request were connected but whether what President Trump did was an impeachable offence or not.
